A Convergence Dossier / Allocate Before Dawn
At seven minutes past three, every television still switched on in the western hemisphere cut to the same test pattern. It held for ninety seconds. When the picture came back the membranes were gone.
Not the walls between countries. The walls between stories. Every basement anybody ever wrote a scream into is a real basement now, with a real door, and the doors have started lining up.
Get this part right, because most people get it wrong on the first night and it kills them. There is no crossing over. There is nothing to cross. The fog town, the quarantine city, the hotel that does not let staff leave, the yellow rooms under the mall. All of it is simply here, on one map, reachable by road, and it always was. The world spent a century pretending otherwise and has now stopped pretending.
You can drive from the lake where they keep finding him to the street where you cannot fall asleep. Four hours, give or take. There is a diner about halfway and the coffee is fine.
Hunters noticed first. Hunters always notice first. The job stopped being a road trip somewhere around four in the morning and became a siege.
You woke at 03:08 knowing two things you had no business knowing. One: the sun is coming up eventually, and that is a deadline rather than a promise. Two: you have been given a budget.
Nobody explains the budget. You just understand it, the way you understand a dream you are still inside, that you may spend it on who you are, what you carry, who stands next to you, and what you are willing to owe.
Spend it carefully. It does not refill.
You have 1,000 HOURS under standard terms. Hours are what the night costs. Drawbacks buy some back, because suffering has always been legal tender here. Scenarios pay up front for walking into something on purpose. You may overdraw. Nothing stops you.
Every location in section 03 is free. You do not buy access to a setting, and you never will. They are one world with one set of roads. You choose a Home Ground because you have to sleep somewhere, and it gives you one thing for free — the rest of the map is simply open.
